Our Little Onion and Holy Buckets!!

Today Josh had a play at school. Actually, it was a musical called "How Does Our Garden Grow?" and he was an onion. He has been practicing since we moved here, and all we've heard this last week is how nervous he is, and how this person has been gone for 2 weeks and doesn't know their part, and how this person won't do something right, etc, etc.... Well, today was the day and he was so excited and nervous, but it went really well. The kids did a great job and it was very enjoyable to watch. Josh did a great job. He got into it so much that he was be-bopping around while he was sitting there during the weeds song. The weeds were a bunch of boys dressed up in hip hop style, chanting that they are weeds, and cool, and they rule. A little corn next to him and to lean over and remind him to sit still. It was so funny to watch him. He only had a little two line part to say, but he was so proud of how they did.

On the other part of the title, my dad always had a saying when he was surprised or shocked or disgusted or whenever it seemed to fit. He'd say "holy buckets!" Well, today as we tried to duck the downpour that has been off and on for the last 2 weeks, that saying came to mind. The rain literally came down in buckets. I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but the rain is running in rivers down the gutters. I have never lived in a place where there was such a rainy spring. Tanner loves to go out and jump in the puddles. He was so upset that I wouldn't let him do it today. The problem was the rain came with high 30 degree weather and was a little too cold for that. But as I stood at my big front window and watched the rain come down, all I could think of was "Holy Buckets!!"

I was so excited for our first mid-west, mid-summer rain storm to move in. I thought, "Oh wonderful, it'll cool off." But, oh no, mid-western rain storms just add to the humidity and to the misery. I do, however, miss a good REAL thunderstorm. Enjoy!
