Tanner Tales

I realize that a lot of my blogging has to do with my two youngest children, especially Tanner. With the older 3 kids at school all day, and Parker being so sweet and mild (and having 2 naps a day), I have come to understand that a big bulk of my day involves Tanner. From feeding him, to playing with him, to hoping I don't kill him before the day is out, I spend a lot of my time and energy trying to keep up with him, and most of the time trying to stay ahead of his mischeiviousness.

Tanner has learned to use certain toys in his room to climb on so that he can reach the top of his or Parker's dresser. He wants to reach on top of Parker's dresser so that he can swipe his binkies. Many nights I come in to check on them, only to find that Tanner has either stolen the binky from Parker, and is sound asleep with it in his mouth, or has taken the extras from the dresser top. Well, last night about 9:00, I hear Parker just a cryin'. I head upstairs and open the door to their bedroom, and get hit with a heat wave that almost melts me. Tanner has turned on the heater on top of his dresser to HI, and the room has to be hotter than 90 degrees. I am ready to yell at Tanner, when I happen to glance and see this in Parker's crib.

Tanner has put his two blankets from his bed, a car ramp, a helicopter, and stuffed bear, a lego box, and several books and puzzles into Parker's crib. So not only is it hotter than Hades in there, but Parker has no where to lay down. I'd be crying to. So I started to laugh, had Kaitlin bring the camera, and had to get drinks for two boys who were starting to dehydrate from the heat. You may be thinking, "Why did she have the heater in there in the first place?" Well, until 2 days ago, nights were still very chilly here - 30's and low 40's - and Parker kicks his blankets off. So instead of running in to him all through the night, I turn on the heater. Well, needless to say after last night, the heater is now inoperable to Tanner. I keep telling Shane that Tanner will be the death of one of us. Either I'll kill him, or he'll kill me with his tactics. Last night was a close one.

On the other hand, the other person that takes up the 2nd most time in my day is Parker. He has such a sweet temperment, and rarely gets angry. He plays very well by himself most of the time. He was taking toys out of the toy box yesterday, and was reaching over to grab another, when he got high-centered and fell in.

He had a great time sitting in the middle of the toys that were still in the box and playing. He probably stayed there for 20-30 minutes before signaling his desire to escape the box.

This next picture took place this morning. Last night I took the 3 youngest kids and went to Walmart to find some toys to use outside. We got some squirt guns, among other things, and had to use them when we got home. Tanner was so excited about them that he wanted to use them again first thing this morning. He kept shooting Kaitlin, who retaliated by pouring a cup of ice on his head while he was jumping on the tramp. His pants were a little big around the waist, so he had jumped out of them by now, and this picture shows him jumping in his diaper, trying to eat the ice off the tramp. It's moments like this that remind me that regardless of his shenanigans, I still love the little beast.

I love it!!! Thank you for posting like you do. I feel like there may be many miles between us and many kids have been born since we have seen each other, but I feel like I know each and every one of your kids because of your posts.
