This year we finally got a spot marked off for a garden, and Shane sprayed it last week to kill the grass. It's about dead now, and hopefully we have a friend coming tonight or tomorrow to roto-till for us. If we don't get it planted soon, we won't have time to get the veggies all grown, so this is now starting to have some urgency. There were a couple of spots where pavers were laid down by the old owners in this area, so I spent the morning pulling them up to get ready for the tiller. Parker and Tanner were helping with the shovel, trying to help me pry them up, until they realized what was underneath.
I didn't realize it until later, after I'd pulled up all three areas with pavers, that Parker was carrying his worms around in his little clenched fists. Poor things were probably good and squished by the time he was done with them. Tanner kept wanting to find the "baby" worms. They even showed their catches to our neighbor, who said he didn't like worms because "they are dirty." I was thinking, "Hello, the two boys holding the worms are dirty, can't you see?" They really don't care about touching bugs, worms, dirt; you name it, they touch it. In fact, by the time we got into the house this morning, Parker had to be stripped from the waist down because he was covered in dirt and mud. It was a fun morning.
Before I forget, we also had an unusual visitor last night. As most of you know, we have a cat named Leo. He tends to roam the neighborhood, prefering to be outside now that the weather is good. He is also a pretty good hunter, as evidenced by the dead mice, birds, and even a squirrel that he was left for us to find outside the back door. Well, Luke and Tanner opened the front door last night and this ran in.The poor little bunny was being chased by Leo, and our opened door provided an escape portal, until Leo followed him in. At first, Luke yelled that a rat had run into the house, and which point I was going to let Leo catch him and kill him. Then Luke said that it had big ears and might be a baby bunny, so I had to pull Leo off and have Luke take him to the garage while Kaitlin came to catch the little thing. She was only there because I was a big chicken, and just in case Luke was wrong, and it was a mouse, she was going to have to catch the vermin that her cat had chased in. How's that for bravery? Call the 12 year old to catch the might-be mouse. I must be getting whimpy in my old age. Anyway, she was able to catch the poor thing and let him go outside, where Leo proceded to catch him again a couple of hours later. He didn't kill it: Shane was there to save the day, but he got a better bite that time because you could hear it screaming. Hopefully the bunny will be smart enough to stay away this time. The third time might be the charm for Leo

That's funny. It has rained like crazy the last 2 days and our driveway was covered with worms. I mean COVERED! Once it dried up they were dead worms. Maggie refused to come out to the car. She thought they were going to get her. lol
I thought you were going to tell us you have a new pet. Why not keep the bunny? ;)
Ya know I asked the same question. It was sooooooo.... CUTE!!!!!
