I'm Sooo Glad the Break's Over

You know, I really do love Christmas, and having the kids home and playing, but I am so glad that the kids went back to school today. I really enjoy the normalcy of life when we are in a routine. It may be crazy normal, but it's familiar and scheduled crazy.

Christmas was a lot of fun. (See the pictures below.) The kids didn't come upstairs until 6: 07 a.m. Notice I didn't say "wake up" until 6:07. Josh woke up almost every hour, and was just waiting until the approved hour to come upstairs. Of course, his room is right below Shane's and my room, so we heard them start playing and waiting about 5 a.m. But it was a fun day.

After opening presents and letting the kids play for a while, we took Christmas dinner over to Shane's Grandma and Grandpa Youd. It's nice that the kids get a chance to get to know them while they are still here. I really miss not getting to be with my family when they lived by Grandma and Grandpa Bake. I didn't get the chance to get to know them like I would have liked.

We also had enough snow fall this year to build a snowman and justify having sleds. So the kids spent Christmas morning and afternoon sledding down a small hill by our house. Even Tanner, Shane and I got in on the fun. It reminded me of "the old days" when there used to be so much snow you could sled down the piles on the side of the road into your yard, or be pulled behind the pickup on the back roads. I really loved that my parents, especially my dad, did that for us. What memories!!

Looks like fun! I don't really miss the cold but I miss playing in a ton of snow. My kids keep asking to go to the mountains where there's lots of snow. Maybe one of these days.
