I thought that I had posted this last week, but apparently, I didn't hit the right button. I meant to do this last week, but I spent the day catering to one of the awesome fathers in my life so I didn't have the time, and this week has been a little crazy. Better late than never, right?
The first awesome father in my life is my dad. I just got to have him at our house two weeks ago, and I loved it. I have great memories of my dad playing with me and teaching me how to do so many things when I was little. I remember him teaching me how to tie my shoes for kindergarten. Many nights he spent after work teaching me how to dribble, shoot, bat, catch, and throw a ball. He was always at games when he could come and ready to support me. I remember him trying to teach me how to drive stick shift when I was driving age. It wasn't his fault that his daughter couldn't figure it out for a long time. => I remember him getting all of us hyped up one Christmas Eve as he said he was sure he could hear the reindeer's bells ringing through the air. I remember his funny jokes at the dinner table, especially the one about the "henweigh." I think I get my sense of humor from him, which I love. Shane doesn't always get me, but I'm sure my dad would. I loved having my dad be my seminary teacher in high school. He is one of the most knowledgeable people I know when it comes to gospel things, and about so many other things in life. I really admire his testimony and his willingness to serve, even when there are other things he would rather be doing. One of the most important things I learned from my dad was what a good husband and priesthood holder looked and acted like, something that I tried to find in someone else as I was looking to get married. I love to see him flirting with my mother, or talking to my brothers and sisters now that we are almost all married and out of the house. I really admire and love you, Dad, and appreciate your influence in my life. I wish that we lived closer so that my kids could get to know you better, and have the opportunity to learn from you the things that I did. Thank you for playing with them, teaching them, and giving them motorcycle rides when we are home. They love you, and I love you very much.
The other awesome father in my life is the father of my children, my sweetheart Shane. We have been married now for almost 13 years, and I still can't believe that I was lucky enough to find him, and that we wanted to be with me for eternity. I could not have imagined a better man to be married to. He is everything I ever wanted, and more. He is my best friend, and is always there for me. I know that I can count on him for anything, and he would try to do it with a smile. I love to watch him with our kids. He loves to play with them, and work with them, and take them to get icecream. => I really appreciate how much he tries to be a part of all that they do by going to school functions, games, and whatever else they are involved in. Shane is such a good example for them in how to work hard, and they learn about work from their dad more than their mom. I love how he tells them stories about his childhood when it's bedtime. I love to hear their giggles and his tells them about his exploits as a kid, and then the next day they tell me the stories again, "Mom, did you know that when Dad was little he.....?" I really appreciate how strong Shane's testimony is of the gospel, and how willing he is to go to church every week, even when he knows he might not hear much because of loud children (Tanner and Parker). He supports me in my callings in the church, which makes it easier to serve when I know that he will take care of things at home when I can't be there. I love you Shane, and am so excited at the prospect of being with you forever. I look forward to the time when it's just you and me again, because I will be with my best friend. Thank you for being such a good friend, father, and husband
